Turbulent Neighborhood Near Exploding Variable Star, Eta Carinae, was photographed by HST.

This NASA Hubble Space Telescope close-up view, taken with Hubble’s Wide Field Planetary Camera 2 in July 2002, shows a three light-year-wide region in Carinae Nebula, which is placed between two large clusters of some massive and hot stars.

This color image is a composite of ultraviolet, visible, and infrared filters which have been assigned the colors blue, green, and red, respectively.

Such surprising dark dust knots and complex structures are caused by the high-velocity stellar winds and high-energy radiation from the ultra-luminous variable star, Eta Carinae.
